A word on kindness

I had an experience today that made me so aware of how important it is to be kind to people. To treat others as you would want to be treated. We spend so much time running around, handling our daily activities, doing all the things that we routinely do, that we sometimes don't think about what others may be going through or what they may be struggling with. Of course we all have bad days, some days are worse than others. We all just get through it. My point is that be mindful of the words you choose, be careful of your attitude toward other people when interacting with them. You can still make your point without being mean and condescending. It's a matter of just basic respect for one another. We can make some one's day so easily by just being respectful. We can also add to what can already seem like an overwhelming situation by being unkind. You leave a lasting impression by the words you choose, by a kind gesture or by just by treating an individual as if "they" matter. Talking down to someone really doesn't make you bigger.

I guess I just want us to take a second and think before we get angry. Think about how you would feel on the other end of meanness. Imagine that this may be your last conversation or interaction with the person. Is being ugly really what you want as a last impression?

God bless!
